Girls 7th Grade Soccer 4/20

The 7th grade girl's soccer team improved to 2 and 3 with a win over Scoggins on Tuesday night. Skye Sivess led all scorers with 2 goals in route to a 4 to 2 victory. Alexis Olivares contributed greatly by adding a goal, assisted by Paige Scott, and two assists of her own. Victoria Sicula added the fourth goal late in the second half. In addition, Haley McCorkle and Kayleese Jones were noted for standout performances.

Stafford Spartans 7th grade girls’ soccer team won Tuesday against Roach Middle School. Late in the first half, Skye Sivess scored the first goal of the game off of an assist from Paige Scott. With a 1 – 0 lead at halftime, the Spartans came out strong and extended their lead to 2 – 0, off a free kick from Alexis Olivares. After Roach cut the score to 2 – 1, the Spartan defense, led by Marissa Martinez and Sonia Valadez, held tough to close out the game victoriously.

SUMMER STRENGTH & CONDITIONING CAMP ‘10

Dates: Monday, June 14th - Thursday, July 1st
Monday, July 5th - Thursday, July 22nd
(NO FRIDAY WORKOUTS)

Time and place:
Session 1: Incoming 7th Graders enrolled at Cobb and Griffin (Boys and Girls)
7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. at Griffin M.S.

Session 2: Incoming 8th Graders enrolled at Cobb and Griffin (Boys and Girls)
9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Griffin M.S.

*******Athletes are only allowed to attend one session each day per UIL rules. *******

Cost: Go to http://www.friscoisd.org/ to register online for camp. The cost is $120. Registration after the June 10 will require a $10 late fee and registration at the FISD Athletic Office.

Camp Purpose: To improve each athlete’s strength, speed, agility, conditioning, and power to prepare them for their upcoming seasons.

Who can attend?All incoming 7th & 8th Grade athletes who will be attending Cobb or Griffin in Fall 2010.

Needed Equipment: Running shoes, shorts, T-shirt, and water bottle

Summer Camp Information

Summer is rapidly approaching and as we make our vacation and summer activities please consider Stafford and Lone Star summer camps. Stafford students can register for summer strength and conditioning and football camp now. All registrations will be done online this year!

Strength and Conditioning camp will be offered for students going into the 7th and 8th grades next year. It will be held at LoneStarHigh School and run from June 21st to July 30th. The middle school session will be Monday - Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 am. The cost of this camp will be $130.

Please know that you have until the Thursday before the camp starts to register your child. Anyone registering after that will need to come to the FISD Athletic office to register and there will be a $10.00 late fee.

Tonight's games will be played as scheduled. We need the girls to meet at school at 4. From there we will proceed like any other game. Players will change, eat dinner, load the bus, and head to Fowler. C teams will begin at 5:45 as normal.

Girls need to bring their sweats to wear over their jersey.

A teams will have transportation from the school to their tournaments.

*Bring $3 for meal.
Saturday: Tournament continues. Parents need to drop athletes off at their tournament location.

Gary Burns Fun Run Day of Information

Gary Burns Fun Run
Students will meet at the Gary Burns Fun Run at 7:30 wearing a Stafford Shirt. You will find the group at the yellow dot on the map at the World Statue on the South Side of Pizza Hut Park (Main Street Side). We will walk as a group to the starting line for the walk at 7:50.

Athlete Pick-up

Please remember to be prepared to pick-up your athlete at the end of every event. Coaches are currently waiting over an hour at least twice a week for students left waiting.

If there is an issue, please contact us, so we can make arrangements for our own families.

Students will no longer be printing out and turning in grade reports. However, we continue to encourage the students to monitor their grades weekly in Home Access.

Gary Burns Information

Today, the girls are going to be getting a flyer and a booklet about the Gary Burns Fun Run on Oct. 31, 2009.

Forms and payment are due Oct. 16.

Students who participate will receive a Mile Pass to use one time in November and December. They can give us a Mile Pass and to sit out while athletics runs a mile.

Gary Burns Fun Run

The Stafford Girls Athletic program completes one service project each year. This year, like last year, we have chosen to participate in the Gary Burns Fun Run. This is a one mile walk/run where we will walk as a group. The girls last year did a fabulous job chanting to keep the entire mile a blast.

This will serve as our 4th practice for that week, so there will be no Volleyball practice on Friday, October 30.

Students will receive further information during athletics Monday, October 5th. Forms and payment will be due back to the coaches on Friday, October 16.
